Ideas!

Okay, so...

1) A mix-mash up of the top 10 artists in a one minute segment to kick it off.
2) Tell them to go online to see tons of pictures and other fun things of their favorite artists online at the website, and that's also where they can download the mix-mash up we make if they like it
3) Before we do the first song, we can do a spin on Abott&Costello where it's like "Who's on First?" etc before we introduce the Number 1 song
4) We can do a sort of contest before we do the Top 10 Countdown where if someone names 5 or 6 or 7 out of the 10 artists, they win a KJOY Prize Pack or a cd from each of the artists they named or something like that which is cool.
5) Do research on the Top 10 from the 80's up and add a clip of it like "In 1980, the 10th top placed song was... and now it's..."
6) Find out how the song came to be and who wrote it, who's the guitarist/bassist/etc of the band in case musicians are listening and would like to research it

Eh...

Ugh. Today I have an event from 5:45 to 8:30 and I am just not looking forward to it. I don't know why. I have to be there around 4, 4:30 though which does not help my happiness with the situation. I have to dress up and can't wear jeans or sneakers which is equally as annoying. I'd much rather stay at home and do homework and think of stuff to do for the morning show.

Which reminds me. I need to think up some cool features to add to that. Hmm...

Organization is Crucial in Show Biz

Okay so yesterday sort of felt like I was doing the same thing. Not literally, but figuratively because it was somewhat clerical. I went into Studio D and all I did really was organize CD after CD, DAT tape after DAT tape, etc and it was a little hectic. But in the end the cabinets looked quite nice and I considered it a job well done. Here is a before and after shot of one cabinet filled with lots of DAT tapes.

What was also pretty cool was the fact that the new morning show host, Steve, and his producer who I work with every Tuesday morning, Neil, asked me if I wanted to be like a producer for a segment of their radio station on Saturday mornings, which is a Top 10 Countdown sort of thing. I'll plan and organize it and choose clips and other interesting features based on whatever celebrities are up on the Top 10 List. I'm pretty excited about it honestly.

Picture Alert!

Oh, and I forgot to add this photo to my radio internship blog last Tuesday so heeeere it is now. As I said, I was recording things from internet to Enco which is the sound system music stuff (I can't really describe it except it has every song or sound clip needed for the DJs to do their playlists and such). I felt pretty cool playing with the sound and the editing techniques and such.

Posted!

By the way, the blogpost I wrote for Phathead is up on the website -- woot woot!

Sloooooooooow

So today was seriously just clerical work -- it wasn't so bad but it felt long. I databased for hours which is basically just taking slips from contestants' entry forms and entering their emails, addresses, phone numbers, and birthdays into the computers. It was exhausting. And I was pretty parched as well haha.

After that I had to file a lot, woopdeedoo. It was a slow day for us interns but whatever. Tomorrow I have to wake up for the morning show, yaaaay!

Fail

So that event I was going to be ridiculously late to -- yeah, never got there. I tried. I was so late and I drove there anyway but I got lost to the point where they told me to just turn around and forget about it. Fail. :(

Have to go into the office today -- and then tomorrow as well. Another event on Thursday but hopefully I'll make it this time.

Error

The event today was moved up an hour (which means I'll be late an hour and a half) because of a broadcasting error. Score. :|

This Week

So yesterday I didn't go in because I had to do some major studying for philosophy midterm on Thursday, today I went in and did lots of work -- researching celebrity interviews, doing commercials, and stuffing some invitations. And tomorrow I have an event to go to from 3-5pm and then I have to study some more. Ah, what a nice eventful week ahead of me.

Thursday Madness

Yesterday I went to school and then I went to an event. It was at first torture because it was raining so hard outside and I so did not want to go anywhere in it, but I did anyways. We went to a car dealer which later on turned out to be fun because someone else working with the station and I began playing in the cars and looking at all the ridiculously cool yet unnecessary buttons just on the steering wheel alone. Getting everything set up was more work because I was in heels, as I was told to be in, and we had to walk and carry things in between cars and all around this difficulty designed building. But the event was only two hours and it went by really fast. When I got home I made dinner for James and my stepdad and my mom, and it was supposed to be also for our friend Conor, but he was unable to come after all so James and I just hung out and it was great!

Tuesday Mahnin'

We had off on Monday because of Columbus Day so I went in on Tuesday as if it were a normal week. I wrote up a blogpost for Phathead about global education (when it's posted -- I'll let you know!) and I did some research for events going on in and around Long Island. It was a pretty simple, laid back day -- they didn't have that much work for me. Tomorrow I have to go to an event for a couple of hours and then I'm playing Catan with my amazing boyfriend and his awesome best friend. Tomorrow will be a loooong (classes and work and such) but very good day, especially towards the end!

As Promised: Part 2

Then I had to go on over to a Party City and I got a little more dressed up than just being a pink duck!

As Promised: Part 1

So the first event I went to this past Saturday was a pet fair. It was so hard to be there though because there were tons of dogs and I wanted to take them all home with me. I didn't though because 1) that's illegal to steal others' pets and 2) my dog would be much less than ecstatic about the situation. But I played with them all -- through my duck suit. Except for one dog -- a doberman pincher -- he looked like he wanted to tear me to pieces. Huge stuffed animal was the only thing on his mind, you could tell.

So here are many pictures from the event; photos thanks to KJOY:

Get ready!

I have great pictures going up on Monday from the two events I did today. Three words to describe two events: Dogs and costumes.

Up and comin'!

Big weekend for radio work! 3 events in 2 days -- more than I usually do in a weekend!

Early Tuesdays

Yesterday, Tuesday, was another low key day in the office. I went in at like 6:15a and forgot my code. Neil made fun of me about that for a bit haha. Then I pretty much sat in with Phathead for the whole morning show, which was fun as always. He's a great guy -- and funny too. He does his job so well, it's incredible! The morning show crew is compiled of some pretty great people, so I love coming in during the mornings -- even if I'm not completely used to the time yet haha. I'm doing a pretty good job adjusting though. Afterwards I helped Puffy with a few commercials, and then I was on my way to school for a long but satisfying day of classes.

Monday Madness

On Monday I was late because I have some study stuff to do for school. When I was on my way however, I was faced with a ton of idiots on the road. You have to wonder how some people get their licenses... must be bribery. One 18 wheeler truck cut off a little car which blew my mind and then some jerk behind me was trying to make a lane in between my lane and the one on the right of me. I was quite annoyed by this.

When I got to the office, I wrote out 200 gift certificates for bowling which was cool because I got to sit with Puffy while I did so. He's a great guy, just like the rest of them. Joe Cosmo came over from promotions and started imitating him which was hysterically funny. Then I did some databasing, then some removal of website stuff, and then some more databasing. It was a pretty low key day.

Sunday Walk

Sorry! Been super busy. So here's the deal. On Sunday I woke up at 4:30a in Staten Island to come to Long Island for an event. Chris and I headed out to Eisenhower Park for a Breast Cancer Walk. It was pretty quiet the entire event and we only stayed for two hours or so. It was pretty funny though. I dressed up at Lucky again, of course! Not much happened during the event though as far as interaction with customers really -- we were placed decently far away.

Here are a couple of pics:
